Church & Wellesley Homes for sale & Real Estate Toronto
Long regarded as the gay neighborhood, The Church and Wellesley area has an iconic downtown area that transforming quickly and taking on a whole new look. The former look of this neighborhood that was initially hightailed to such places as Park dale has seen young couples and their families move in and developed the growing number of condos in the area into starter homes. As a result of this rush, developers are cashing in by popping up sleek condos. The old residents are however still praising the area for its personal village like feel. This is due to the continued existence of the long standing independent businesses that include many green groceries located along the line of Church Street. The northern side of this neighborhood has remained relatively safe while the south side has retained a gritty, unsafe feel, more so when the dusk envelops the area.
The rapidly popping up condos has seen the housing stock with multi-unit dwellings that share the land with a few condo developments mingling with the stately homes. A good example of this mix can be seen on the street of Gloucester. There are also older condo buildings are can be found on Maitland Street and Charles Street East. These housing developments tend to have bigger units. However, they still sell for under the market value despite the large square footage. It is expected that with more new buildings such as the ones on Bloor Street East coming up, the prices of these housing units will go up. In the meantime, an investment in this area is a pretty good bet in the long term.
