Blake-Jones Homes and Real Estate Toronto
The Blake-Jones neighbourhood in eastern Toronto takes its name from two streets running parallel north to south through its centre. (Locals refer to the narrow tree-lined streets between Blake and Jones as “The Pocket”.) The area is bordered by Pape Avenue to the west, Greenwood Avenue to the east, the CN Railway tracks to the south, and lively Danforth Avenue to the north, with its rich diversity of ethnic restaurants, taverns and retail shopping.
For families with children, Blake-Jones homes are served by Blake Street Junior Public, Pape Avenue Junior Public, and Earl Grey Senior Public Schools. Blake Street Public School also houses the East Alternative School of Toronto, with an enriched integrated-arts curriculum.
Public transportation, and quick connection to mid and downtown Toronto, is readily available to residents via the Pape, Donlands, and Greenwood subway stations and the 83 Jones bus route.
Many Blake-Jones homes are mid-1900s semi-detached. There are also townhouse complexes and public housing apartments, largely in the south-west. While house prices have started to rise as the area begins to experience gentrification, deals can definitely be had in this neighbourhood. For example, a 3-bedroom townhouse in the area will go for slightly above $300,000. However, older Blake-Jones homes will typically require some renovation and imagination from new owners.
