Riverdale Homes & Real Estate Toronto

Riverdale is a large Toronto neighborhood, bounded to the west by the Don River Valley, to the north by Greektown and Danforth Avenue, to the east by Leslieville and to the south by Lake Shore Boulevard.

The area takes in three recreational parks — Withrow, Riverdale and Jimmie Simpson — and a number of smaller communities, centered around their own local commercial areas.

Residential streets in Riverdale are typically lined with mature trees, and feature architecture that often reflects Victorian or Edwardian styles, including grand homes built in times of prosperity over the past century. This rich housing stock was not enough to make the area attractive to high-income earners in the latter part of the 1990s, but this has been changing recently.

The architecture and historical value of Riverdale homes and real estate has fueled a gentrification trend, notably in the Broadview Avenue and Queen Street area — with Lower Riverdale located on the southern part of Riverdale Avenue emerging as the location with the highest valued real estates. Upper Riverdale, centred around the northern Riverdale Avenue neighborhood, is more likely to have homes requiring renovations, and considerably lower prices reflect this.
