Where are The Beaches?
The Beaches in Toronto are bound by Coxwell on the west side and using Kingston Road as the border along the north side of The Beaches, Victoria Park on the east side and, to the south, with Lake Ontario as the southern border. The area north of Kingston rd. is known as the Upper Beaches.
Transportation
Getting to and from work, if one lives in the beaches, is easy given the amount of options. Depending on if you are working downtown, midtown or, even in the West End there are a number of options. The TTC's 501/502 runs 24 hours a day along Queen Street and continue downtown to Yonge street within 20 to 25 minutes. If you're driving this trip can generally be a bit quicker by taking either the Lakeshore Boulevard, Eastern Ave., Queen Street, or Dundas street.
Local business
The Queen St., East strip that goes directly through the middle of The Beaches, is a vibrant small business area noted by a large number of independent specialty shops. The Beaches Is well-known for small restaurants and breakfast/brunch establishments that have been around for many years. Business thrives in The Beach, with residents supporting local businesses loyally.
Landmarks
The Beaches have many landmarks that are a point of pride for local residents and business owners. A token landmark that is well known to residents and non-residents of The Beaches, is the Leuty Lifeguard Station on Kew Beach. Other landmarks include the Dr. William D. Young Memorial, Fox Theatre and Glenn Gould's family home to name a few.
Schools
For families looking to move into The Beaches there are a variety of different types of schooling available for your children. There is one public high school, two Catholic high schools, two senior public schools, seven public schools (Three more in very close proximity to the beaches) and two Catholic public schools.
