Bracondale Hill (Hillcrest) Homes & Real Estate Toronto

Bracondale Hill (Hillcrest) Homes & Real Estate TorontoIn 1847, when Toronto’s northern limit was Bloor Street — a dirt road complete with bogs and hollows — Robert Turner purchased a sizeable parcel of land to the north and south of Davenport Road. On a choice 5-acre section, on the crest of a hill, he carved out an estate from the ancient oak forest and built a grand home which he named Bracondale Hill.

Today, an historical plaque in Hillcrest Park commemorates the Turner family, and their legacy remains in the neighbourhood’s street names — Turner, Frank, Conrad, Rains and Ashworth.

This western midtown neighborhood developed from the Turner estate between Hillcrest Drive and Christie Street, reaching south from above Davenport Avenue to below Tyrell Avenue.

The area’s housing stock is largely comprised of large early-20th century, well-maintained single-family homes surrounding Hillcrest Park. Prices are relatively affordable, and this quiet family-oriented neighbourhood is an attractive locale for home purchasers and for investors in residential properties.

Bracondale Hill homes are well served with shopping and restaurants along St. Clair Avenue West to the north and Davenport Road/Ossington Avenue to the south.
