Dovercourt–Wallace–Emerson–Junction
Homes and Real Estate Toronto

The larger community of Dovercourt-Wallace-Emerson-Junction is a grouping of small neighbourhoods, including Bloorcourt and Bloordale. The neighbourhood takes in the area north from Bloor Street to the CPR railway lines and Davenport Avenue, and west from Christie Street to the CNR/CPR lines between Lansdowne Avenue and Dundas Street.

There was a time when home buyers looked askance at anything west of Bathurst. But, as the process of gentrification continued its steady push west, and reno buyers took up residence, the wave passed Christie, then Ossington, and today is reaching Dufferin — as house hunters priced out of Seaton Village and Little Italy start to discover this up-and-coming area.

Up and coming, yes, but not the finished article yet. On some narrow streets, nicely renovated homes mix with rooming houses or homes sadly in need of care. Architecturally, there’s everything here — from Annex-style Victorians to aesthetically challenged semis to newer infill housing or the handsome brick homes on streets surrounding 6-acre Dovercourt Park. (Recently, a bright, luxury two-bedroom Edwardian had an asking price of $599,000.) In the north-west corner of the community, residences originally constructed for factory workers have been re-imagined as condos, while low and medium-rise apartments occupy much of the area immediately north of Bloor Street.

The area is served by three elementary schools and a large number of parks and green spaces, including Christie Pits Park along the eastern border — and Wallace-Emerson Park, where recent community beautification projects have added to the emerging new tone of the area.

Public transportation is readily available for commuters, with regular north-south bus services connecting to the Lansdowne, Ossington and Dufferin stations on the Bloor-Danforth subway line.
