Koreatown Toronto Homes & Real Estate

Koreatown Toronto Homes & Real Estate Toronto’s Koreatown or Little Korea is a city Business Improvement Area (BIA), centered on the intersection of Bloor Street West and Manning Avenue, and composed of retail businesses that line Bloor Street between Christie and Bathurst Streets in the Seaton Village section of The Annex.

Koreatown is the perfect place to experience Korean culture and food, with a wide range of Korean restaurants, bakeries, high-end-fashion Korean boutiques, herbalists, travel agents, acupuncturists and many other unique services and shops with filled with made-in-Korea merchandise. The signature event is the Dano Festival held on the first weekend of June at Christie Pits Park, with presentations of Korean martial arts, traditional music and dance.

Since Canada’s adoption of a liberal immigration policy in 1967, Toronto’s Korean population has grown to the largest in the country, with 50,000 living in the city according to the Census of 2001. This large population has provided a healthy local market for businesses catering to the Korean-Canadian community.

Before the most recent wave of Korean immigrants in the 1980s, the section of Bloor Street west of Bathurst was largely populated by people from Central and South America, and this area retains a strong Latin influence today.
